Wherever I work, I search for productive intersections between teaching, research, and community activism. I encourage students to embrace the unfamiliar challenges of new material, but also to build upon the strength of their own life experiences. I am energized by the belief that we can all serve as mentors and as resources to each other.
My doctoral expertise is in post-colonial and globalization studies with a focus on Black Caribbean and American literature. I am committed to research and activism focused on Black feminist and indigenous perspectives. My passion for travel literature, women’s writing, auto/biography, creative reportage, and documentary film is evident in many courses that I teach.
I welcome students to work with me on projects related to these and many other areas. Please see course listings for current or upcoming courses that I teach.
